Book Fairs

We want to have a book fair! Now what?

GUIDELINES FOR SCHOOLS, CHURCHES, DAYCARES, AND OTHER ORGANIZATIONS

We’d love to work with you as co-hosts for your book fair. Book fairs are a wonderful, welcome way to raise funds or earn free books, while promoting the joy of reading.

As a local company, Chapters Books & Gifts can customize your inventory to meet your organization’s unique needs. We can provide you with books for all ages, for children and adults. Our wide selection includes books from many publishers, religious books, educational toys and games, and book-related items such as bookmarks and book lights. We’re happy to bring you good quality books and to NOT bring you gimmicky toys that will fall apart as soon as the child gets them home. We’re also here to help you with set-up, take-down, and sales. Your patrons will be able to use cash, check, or credit card for their purchases, and can even make online purchases and place special orders. You choose whether to take your earnings in free books or in cash, or to pass your earnings along to your patrons as discounts on their purchases.

Chapters offers four options for book fairs:

Events with Paige

We’re excited to offer you the option to host Paige, our mobile bookstore, for your event. Paige will arrive fully-stocked with inventory to meet your organization’s unique needs. Paige is available for events at ball tournaments, wineries, VBS, family fun days at churches, daycares, libraries, and schools, as well as for more traditional book fairs. Paige even has a chair lift to make sure that everyone is able to come aboard and join in on the fun. If you have an idea, we’re open to considering it!

You will be responsible for providing a secure parking place for Paige, staffing and supervising the book fair, and providing a cash box. You are also responsible for promoting your event, with our help. The more you do to encourage people to shop at your book fair, the higher your profits will be!

Please note: Paige hibernates during the winter, so she is not available for events from December-March. She does have air conditioning and is available for summer events!

On-site Events

If you’d like us to bring a book fair to your school, church, or other facility, we will schedule a date (typically one day to a week), and bring books and/or other items to you to sell. Your organization will earn either free books or cash, based on your sales. You will be able to set up a “Wish List” display of items you’d like donated for your organization. If purchased, those items will not only be donated, but they will count toward your total sales and earn more free books or cash for you.

If you choose an on-site event, we will help by providing digital posters, flyers, and other promotional materials for you. We will deliver your books, help you set up, and be available as a resource during your book sales. At the end of your book fair, we’ll pick up remaining inventory and calculate your earnings.

You will be responsible for providing a secure space, helping with set up, staffing and supervising the book fair, providing a cash box, and boxing books after the sale. You are also responsible for promoting your event, with our help. The more you do to encourage people to shop at your book fair, the higher your profits will be!

In-store Events

If you’d like to have an event at our downtown Seward store, we will schedule a date(s) on which a percentage of sales in the store will be donated to your organization. You will be able to set up a “Wish List” display of items you’d like donated for your organization. If purchased, those items will not only be donated, but they will count toward your total sales and earn more free books or cash for you.

You are responsible for promoting your event, with our help. The more you do to encourage people to shop at Chapters on those days, the higher your profits will be!

Online Book Fairs

You may want to take advantage of the ease and long-distance reach of an online book fair, or add an online shopping option to your in-person event. Books purchased online will be delivered free to the host school and can also be shipped to friends and relatives from far away, for small shipping fees.

For online fundraisers, we'll schedule a time during which a portion of all online sales through sewardchapters.indielite.org will be donated to your school or organization. We'll create a "home" page for your event and include recommended book lists and wish lists from your teachers, librarian, and other staff. If purchased, items from wish lists will not only be donated, but they will count toward your total sales and earn more free books or cash for your organization.

You'll be responsible for promoting your event, with assistance from us, and distributing books to students after we deliver them to your facility.
