Savvy by Ingrid Law
Savvy is a wonderfully creative story set in a little place directly between Kansas and Nebraska. It reminds us that we all have our own special talents, although they may not be as spectacular as those of the characters in this book, who cause hurricanes and electrical surges. Ingrid Law's voie is fresh, humorous, and heartwarming without being sentimental. I'm excited to have Ingrid come to Chapters in September and look forward to more books from her. Eight Women, Two Model Ts, and the American West by Joanne Wilke
This is the story of eight young women who, in 1924, set out from Iowa to drive across the American West and visit six national parks--"without a man or a gun along." The author's grandmother is one of the women, and the book weaves together her memories and family stories. It's a beautifully told memoir and adventure story. Meet the author at Chapters in July.
